This week, we have the pleasure of interviewing Nichole Farrow, who is a lifestyle and mindset coach.

During these uncertain times where we have to adapt to new routines, it is important to prioritize self-care in order to avoid burnout and lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Here are some of her top tips on how you can take care of yourself and nourish your mind at the same time to feel your best:

Sleep. 7- 8 hours of sleep is optimal for the best mental performance. It improves your memory, immune system and your capacity for strategic thinking. To optimize sleep - have plenty of natural sunlight during the day, stay consistent with your bed time, exercise daily, avoid caffeine at night and avoid long naps during the day.

• Exercise. Exercise pumps blood to the brain and improves our intellectual performance, enabling us to process information faster and improve reactions.

• Gratitude. Count your blessings, there is always something to be grateful for. No matter what your situation, there is someone out there who would change places with you.

• Take a breath. By taking a deep breath, you’ll avoid panic attacks and allow oxygen to flow back to your brain.

• Switch off. By being constantly connected to technology, we often become more stressed and anxious which impacts our sleep and mental performance. Switch off, take time away from a screen especially one hour before bed.

• Guard your mind. Only expose yourself to thoughts that serve you, instead of feeding your fear. Support yourself in language and love.

• Ignore the positivity porn. Your journey is your own, do not judge it by others successes. Allow yourself to be human, you’ll get there in your own time.

• Mindfulness practice. Whatever you prefer - mediation, affirmations, yoga... Make time to step out of your day to centre yourself. It allows you to focus and stay calm.

• Go for a walk. Going for a walk in nature releases the feel-good hormones oxytocin and dopamine, which have a calming effect on our emotional state.

• Treat yourself. Write a treat list of things you can do to reward yourself during this time - big or small. Keep note of what you have achieved in the day and make sure you reward yourself!
