Travel Guide - Istanbul
If you’re looking for a destination with over 2500 years of history, culture, traditions, and landmarks - Istanbul is the perfect getaway.
Hotel:
Sofitel Taksim
We stayed at Sofitel Taksim, which is right at the centre of Istanbul located on a busy street. You can find many shops, restaurants and dessert places within walking distance. Rooms are spacious, the staff is attentive and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet is spectacular.
Activities:
Arasta Bazaar
Hidden bazaar, less crowded than Grand Bazaar. Perfect for shopping, spices and souvenirs. Be ready to bargain.
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia was a Greek Orthodox Church from 360 AD until the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire in 1453, which then became a mosque. It’s absolutely stunning inside.
Topkapi Palace
Topkapi Palace was the residence of Ottoman Sultans for 400 years. It contains the Sacred Relics, making it very famous for muslims to visit from all over the world.
Restaurants:
Nusr-Et Bedestini
Made famous by its talented celebrity Chef, Salt Bae - Nusr-Et is the place to be. We were lucky to have Salt Bae there. You have to order a gold steak for him to come and cut the meat for you. The waitresses entertain whilst serving and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the salads, steak and baklava.
Konyali
Konyali is a family run restaurant in the garden of Topkapi Palace. We’ve had the best experience in this restaurant due to the food quality and hospitality. The staff is so kind, attentive and they spoil you.
